Dambreak Risk Analysis of Jenelata Dam and its Mitigation Plan

Makassar City is often experiences flood during rainy season and lack of water dry season. Therefore, Jenelata Dam planned to be built in South Sulawesi with a watershed area 221.22 km2. Every dam has dambreak potential due many factors such as earthquakes. Risk analysis carried out order study the most effective mitigation plan on minimizing risk index. Flood hydrograph modeling done using HEC-HMS extreme scenario overtopping discharge peak 48726.47 m3/s. The inundation HEC-RAS was 20842.48 Ha. results map demographic data are then used basis for determining index per sub-district. form structural non-structural. solution determined through testing effectiveness every reducing area, where installation embankments 150 cm high main river branch give best result. Implementation based value sub-district its components. final result implementation comparison without plan. obtained decrease several sub-districts from medium or low.
